SYSOP-- only 10 new threads today? What's happening?

Is it just a nice, sunny day outside _everywhere_ and you're all enjoying life away from 'puters?

Or is mostly everyone having trouble getting here today?

It's now 3 PM PDT and this is the first time I've been able to access this site in the past 6 hours. rem

Could not get in all morning. But I think everyone is out trying to get most of there gear before July. Need to. Must.

I think that the servers were down for a while since I couldn't get in here as well. Maybe that has something to do with the smaller number of threads.

Troubles with server down today. Air conditioning installation at MIT. Supposed to come up at noon. Some continuing networking problems. Technicians working on it.

What's Happening

It's starting. Y2K is starting. They must be testing. They need to test before July 1. Finish your preps. There's not much time left.

A, Calm down, I too was dissapointed that the servers were down but don't read conspiracy into this one. Geez, of all places? Actually it enabled me to get some work done (yes at work on Saturday, y2k team, remember?).

Got tape backup? (in a tuna can of course).

--A,

That's the shortest heads-up and good advice I have seen so far. You sure do have the ability to cut to the chase. Wish I could explain it so simply to my friends and neighbors. I think sometimes I try to tell them too much and lose them in the details. I'm hoping to hear something just like that from Flint one of these days. Sigh. :-)

The truth is that everyone needs to get back to work on Monday so they will have some FREE Time To browse. :>

In this part of the country (Mid-Atlantic), this is the first time the temperature has been below slow roast in quite some time. I think we've all been out doing errands and chores that didn't get done when the heat indices were above 100.

I placed a new post earlier today and it's gone now!

-- Not Again! (Seenit@ww2.com), June 12, 1999.

Gordon, uh, I don't think that was the real 'a'. It was somebody parodying his mindless-doom mentality, and doing so poorly.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), June 12, 1999.

Flint:

I agree with your doomish conjecture.
