topics? : LUSENET : never : One Thread

Is there something you guys are curious about that I haven't talked about?

Is there something you'd like to see me write about?

Give me your topic suggestions for the journal.

Alternately, what makes a good writing exercise for you? I sit down to write just for the exercise, but I never know what I'm writing about so I just sort of go randomly. Suggestions?

I'm feeling content-less lately.

It appears you can :)

And in the email version of your post, it came out exactly as it should have (that is, a working link inside an href tag, which is how Eudora handles them thar things for me)

Now, I just need to learn perl. So I can be a better writer. And so I can write my own setup so I don't have to mess with all that file changing crap every time I write an entry. I'm hideously jealous of you, Ian.

Whenever I can't think of content, I spend some time writing Perl scripts to manipulate the stuff I *do* have. Keeps me out of trouble.

Say...Do html tags work in here? Can I, for instance, stick in a clickable, own-horn-tooting link to this way?

In my case, its often the stream-of-consciousness, happy arse, early morning crud that keeps those ultra-creepy "writing hounds" at a distance. I tend to write randomly, for the *exercise*, very early in the morning after that first cup of hot beverage. Its almost a physical necessity, like peeing or pushing the cat off your chest. And writing in the a.m. seems to fine-tune your brain for the rest of the day. (Doesn't improve spelling, though)

I love what you're doing with the place. :-)

The early morning thing is a great way to start your day. However, if you are looking for more structured "assignments" for writing exercises then you might want to take a look at Bonni Goldberg's book, Room to Write. It gives great jumping off points for writers. Definitely a lot of fun :-)
