greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Since poole and others are insistant in trying to waste our time. Instead of playing this game I feel we should just start putting links to let them figure it out. I will only post one for right now because I have work to do,I will post more later when I have time to go back into my papers a list you more info. www.mitre.org/research/y2k/briefings/are_we doomed.pdf this is from the mitre corporation a think tank employed by the pentagon of advice. GI's Help Pooles and others brain understand the big y2k picture. No fights just the Facts. List your favorite links to help bring them up to speed since they are to lazy to do the homework them selves. To Poole and cherri when the ah ha hits you come down off your high horse and lend a helping hand to help the community instead of being flaming buttheads.

I think most of us know they have no desire to learn ***t from anyone here. They just have no social lives and feel the need to force people to give them some attention. It certainly is a kind thought on your part, however.

And I agree that DGIs need to be aware that y2k requires time, money, effort, open-mindness, paradigm shift, etc. Welcome to the constantly changing scenarios of 21st century uncertainty.

Polyester,

That's a pretty good polly list. I think you have earned your name.

Many of these have been discussed here. I wish it wasn't 1:00 AM, and I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow, and I wish it wasn't going to be another 100 degree day. I would like to discuss a few of your links with you. But, I'm beat. Maybe later... <:)=

Thanks feller, Here is a web site for dr.s about medical devices with known y2k defects www.mardon-y2k.com/badmeddev.htm and a federal search engine for finding biomedical equipment with y2k problems www.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/year2000/y2k_search.cfm Here is a great little white paper done by mark frautschi with many good links on it. Title Embedded systems and the year 2000 www.tmn.com/~frautsch/y2k2.html this is just a starter for dgi's. Embedded systems are going to be the most time consuming element to fix in the y2k. While there is less of a precentage of embeddeds that will cause problems than first though their are so many billions of them in key mission critical operations that are difficult to get to during scheduled maintance down times that many plants will be forced to shut down for many months around the y2k to prevent plant explosions and toxic releases until they can be fix and properly tested.
