A follow-up to an earlier question from Feller, asking who are the programmers on the Forum.

What are the other areas of knowledge out there on the Forum ?Can we build a database of talent ?

I'll start the ball rolling.

Our family talents:Shore fishing,ferreting/ snaring & shooting game .Commercial handmade papermaking.Extensive knowledge of running a soft fruit farm(strawberries,blackcurrants,apples).Keen gardeners. Can tap into antique engine restoration expertise. Have kept chickens,ducks,geese & dogs & children(!)

Our skill sets and experiences are: Spouse is a mechanical 'wizard'("It's all wires, pipes and wheels"),carpentry, plumbing, rigging, electrical engineer (may be a moot point!), radio and telecommunications (also may be moot), and refrigeration skills. I've got midwifery, nursing, food production gardening and preservation, animal husbandry, sewing/clothing production. We both chop our own wood for our wood stove. Both of us are good hunters and fishers.

Other family members are skilled in nursing, gardening, food preservation, blacksmithing.

Painfully, I must admit that while I have depended on computing systems for all of my professional life, I am a truly lousy programmer. Therefore I depend on others, such as yourselves (you know who you are), for opinions about the state of "big iron", PC, and other systems regarding their remediation and readiness.

I have learned to appreciate and have a great respect for the programmers who are the true preservers of this great house of cards that we have built.

I beg, no, I implore you to stop your ego-propping bickering, and give us the true state of affairs. This, and other forums (e.g., GNIBFI, debunker), have degenerated to the point of name-calling, and have become a mire of waste and uselessness.

Can we put egos aside, and have some meaningful dialog here, PLEASE?
