This is a lovely picture, you've captured an expressive moment. (Just curious: Did you try continuous mode?) The egret;s beak is hidden, but you've got the water moving... A suggestion: I would crop off the upper area (about 1/6 of the picture's height). Looking forward to your next photograph.

Jana, I used single shot mode, but I didn't have much choice as this was the last shot on the roll.I would have liked one more shot to get the egret with the fish in it's beak to complete a series.(1.poised before the strike,2. the strike, 3.success)

sean, i agree with Jana that it is more effective if you crop it down from the top to just above the first water droplet on the right.

GREAT shot!

DON'T change the crop. As this stands you have many options for framing, and if you use it as a stock photo the out of focus upper area is perfect for dropping in the client's text.

Great shot, especially considering you had only one frame left and you got it! Good exposure and detail. I just have a question: Where do you find white-faced Egrets? I live in Florida and have never heard of them. Are they even a North American bird? Donna
