GN site had 1 to 2 hour periods of Not Available Sunday thru Tuesday nights and couldn't get in this afternoon in Missouri. He's had trouble with his server since Sunday.

-- Scat (sgcatique@webtv.net), June 02, 1999.

I had to backdoor into GN's place at 8:45PM Eastern. Trying to use the standard www.Garynorth.com got the "Access Forbidden" screen. I went to the history fille, called up one of the recent news links and got in. Navigation inside the site was normal.

What does this mean? Maybe the Biffy bunch is getting malicious in their efforts. After the little fact that they're talking about "taking over" this site and "shutting it down" it makes one wonder.

It does show some technical skills and a sense of desperation on their part if they have to resort to cyber terrorism to accomplish what their "reasoned discussions" intended to convince us we're wrong can't do: quit visiting Y2K preparation sites.

PS: This site has been kinda hard to get into today. It's takem multiple tries both times I've come aboard.

No problem getting in just now...at 0114 UTC (universal time coordinate, formerly GMT). Had some problems 3-4 hours earlier due to high server usage on his site.

Access denied 1900 hrs from Pacific North West Uswest

-- unspun@lright (mikeymac@uswest.net), June 02, 1999.

I, too, can only get in via the "backdoor trick". Specifically, I am going to

www.garynorth.com/y2k/detail_.cfm/3448

(from a hardcopy that I had), then from there I can get anywhere.

And its 9:07pm CST, and I'm trying from Northwest Arkansas.

-- Jack (jsprat@eld.net), June 02, 1999.

yup. It's down. I had to use the backdoor.

-- ed (edrider007@aol.com), June 02, 1999.

I've had difficulty connecting with my ISP today (unusual). Also, the CNN boards irretrievably lost all of their postings from about midnight until 10 or 11 this morning due to a "computer glitch."

Frugal's patriot site has been under hacker attack all week and he has gone to password only access until he can get a defense in place, and Zog's Y2K forum has also been down all week.

Why?

-- Brian (imager@home.com), June 03, 1999.

At the same time, there were unusual problems with the internet in and out of Japan. Others here in Japan noticed it also.

-- PNG (png@gol.com), June 03, 1999.

looking,

Yea, I gotta say "why" also at this point. GN gets half of his stuff (well, maybe not 1/2) from here! This is the Y2K place to be! Believe me, I did a whole bunch of time on this topic... This is the place to be...

PNG,

So, the other side of the world noticed it also.......... Damned computers... <:)=

No problem here in Calif. 7:30 AM 6/3. But noticed in another thread that Bruce Beach's site is down. Wazzup?

-- R (riversoma@aol.com), June 03, 1999.

Sounds like it could be the end of the world.
