I just found that Bowser is producing their 70 Ton hoppers in a CG paint. A picture on their web site shows a gray car with green lettering and a road number in the 1300's. Does anyone know if this is prototypical? Thanks Dale Koglin

Dale and intrested parties, According to Lee English @Bowser, they are going to release the 70 ton covered hopper in the original CG paint scheme also. (That is besides the Southern era paint scheme.) He said the part # would be 55692, and it would be released in a few months. Richard

That paint scheme is correct for the Southern cars of the 1970s. Lee English saw the photo of this paint scheme in the Southern Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment and thought it would sell good, so that's how it ended up in production. They also have the Southern cars in the original RR Roman black script and have been provided the drawings for the CoG cars. They have not announced when they will be released.

Dale, the Bowser car represents a post merger paint scheme, past 1963, that the Sou control mandidated. The Sou cars were paint in a similar scheme with green Southern lettering. Todd
