Disaster Movie on Y2K?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I heard several months ago that there was a big hollywood movie production(along the lines of the comet disaster films) about y2k and its possible consequences - due out late summer or early fall. Has anyone else heard anything about this??? Hard to believe that the producers, etc could be convinced not to release the film because of its "panic-inducing" qualities.

I have read where two are set for release. Producers won't delay release for any reason. These are time-sensitive movies, and panic would only increase attendance.

In fairness, I have not read specifics of these flicks, such as actor names or studios.

I also have heard that two feature films either were in production or pre-release. On a personal basis, neither have been filmed on the garden island of Kaua'i, so I have no first hand knowledge.

Sunday's Atlanta Journal & Constitution had an article on the unreadiness of the city of Atlanta in regards to Y2K. It mentioned three movies coming out this summer/fall.

Y2K movie info here

Check the date on the aint-it-cool info: it's from December. Very old news. The O'Donnell project seems to have evaporated since then. Not sure where these reporters got their info, but that "two or three Y2K movies coming out" phrase keeps showing up with no details attached. Anyone seen any confirmation?

The Coming Attractions site is a very good way to see what's where in the movie biz. I haven't found any projects there which sound Y2K-related, but I also haven't read absolutely every project description.
