Nikon 20mm, Velvia, Smoky Mountains, I have the same shot with a 35mm and 200macro, but I like the 20mm better.

Actually, Les, this is Platanus occidentalis, the sycamore tree, sitting in front of a prickly pear cactus plant ... Seriously, this is beautiful. Colors are intense and the composition is excellent. The way some of the ferns recede into the black background adds mystery, and the in-your-face purple of the orchid is spectacular. Congratulations.

Beautiful! Great green fronds and nice placement of the purple blossoms. Good work!

Fantastic shot! There is a lot of detail in this photo, it's hard to say at this resolution how crisp it is. Was it taken with a tripod and high f-stop? This would make a beautiful print!

Sorry don't mean to be the only one in the crowd that does not like this image but it does not look natural. The greens are properly exposed but the top of the image goes dark very quickly. There is not depth due to the very dark background which is emphasized by the lightness of the light foreground.

If you were able to put a flash on the floor and shoot up a bit to lighten up the shadows it may have helped but I'm not sure.
