the computer guy where i work (car dealership--and, no, no one seems to know anything about the embedded systems in the vehicles. i was told Ford had already tested its EEC and found compliant, but the Isuzu manager told me Y2K will only affect computers (i'm not even going to try; just hoping no customers base their buying decisions on it.)) gave me a copy of the "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure Act" that was sent to them from gov't. everybody gets screwed: 1)anything that says on it "Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure Statement" cannot be used to sue any companies unless you can prove the claim was made with foreknowledge that it was wrong or if someone dies, 2)internal statements for ANY company CANNOT be obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. anyone wanting a copy please send a fax # in a private e-mail and i will fax it to you. it is about 20-25 pages long (i can pick out what i consider relevant--already highlighted), and would just take too damn long to scan, not that i would know how to include that here anyway. :)
