Western Bluebird, Sialia mexicana

Canon A2 on an FD600/4.5, Ektachrome E100S at about f/8 and 1/60 sec.

I had a lot of fun watching this pair as they scouted the campground thoroughly for nest sites. They looked in all my truck windows, the mirror and my travel trailer windows. I photographed them for about an hour one cool morning in May at about the 4000 foot level overlooking Maricopa, CA.

Looks a bit underexposed to me - the female especially merges into the shadows. Maybe a scanning problem... the tip of the conifer branch at the bottom doesn't add anything and could be cropped out. The yellow lichens (?) and bark detail on the branch are nice.

Spectacular, looking at it as a visual artist - painter
