The tones and composition remind me of classical paintings, of which I'm extremely fond.

I think your exposure was perfect, but how to improve this one? A straighter horizon line? A slightly looser composition? Repositioning yourself slightly to the right to include more of the onderfully lit trees and vegetation?

I know this is very difficult in these surroundings, but having a clear subject matter would help. I realize this is a "no hand of man forum", but strictly from an aesthetic point of view, a path leading (on a diagonal, for perspective sake) to the water, or a canoe at the water's edge would help. This looks like a *wonderful* location and since you're nearby, try coming back some times to catch it in misty light. Mist or light fog will add an almost magical quality that will evoke powerfull emotions in your viewers.

Looking forward to seeing more...

Cheers,

Keith
