Two Y2K mentions in the Dallas Morning News Sunday. On the front page, a story about the $1.3 billion that the Metroplex's 10 largest public companies "expect to spend to immunize their computer systems and other technology from the millennium bug, according to federal filings."

In Blackie Sherrod's "Scattershooting" column this: "Even if Y2K computer shutdown on Jan. 1 is generally sniffed at, NFL will take no chances. Road teams must fly to game sites a day early, on Dec. 31 for their Jan. 2 season finales, just in case Y2K collapse shuts down air traffic on Jan. 1."

And a big article on the front of the Business section entitled "Y2K? Everything's A-OK". Unfortunately, if you bother to look at the chart on page 2H, you discover that in the majority of industries, most of the companies are in the "Problem determination" (assessment) and "Plan complete and resources committed" (inventory) stages. Also according to the chart, no industry has any companies in the "Fully compliant" stage.
