Y2k in Friday's "Young and the Restless" plot.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

My grandmother is a dedicated watcher of "Young & The Restless".

One of the characters, Victor Newman, crash landed in the desert and was rescued by some hermit. Apparently, the hermit is keeping him on his compound against his will. Victor, trying to escape, breaks into the hermit's office, and sees articles all over his office with Y2k headlines such as "Y2k Not A Mirage" before trying to send an email for help to his son. Apparently, the part about seeing the articles happened today...Grandma rushed in and told me soon as I got home :-)

Think we'll see more of Y2k in popular TV shows as the year progresses? It will be interesting to see their take on it on a netork/industry-wide basis. Will one show take a gloomer view while another takes a poly view, or will all the shows partray some similar?

Hey, I saw that today! My take: as the plot unwinds, they'll reveal this hermit as a "Y2k wacko", who's scared that if Victor leaves, he'll tell someone about his Y2k getaway or come back to him to mooch off his stash.

couple 'o weeks ago before I could get up to turn off beverly hills90213 jason priestly freaked out ian whoever with a typical doomer rant and told him he planned to hoard through '99(then wispered to his skankbabe that he was just messing with ian's head)By that time I made it to the tv and put an end to that drivel
