Where can I find pictures of Art Deco Theaters?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Art Deco Society of Washington : One Thread

I realy love Art Deco theater marquees and I am trying to put together a collection of them from around the world.

You should certainly take a look at a special web exhibition of cinema photographs currently on the UK Royal Commision on Historic Monuments Web Site.

You may also know the Theatre Historical Society of America site.

There are some cinema photos also on the Art Deco Ireland site.

Kjell Furberg's wonderful Swedish cinema site has some wonderful post war pictures in flowing neon colours.

The Warner Theater in Torrington, CT, has great interior Deco designs, both lobby and theater, with a truly spectacular ceiling medallion in the latter. I don't know if they have a site themselves, but as I recall there are photos showing a number of details on the Nutmeg Ballet's site. I don't have their URL, but they hold their galas at the Warner every year.

Hello again,

In addition to my earlier web suggestions for you to try, you should try to get hold of a book by Ave Phildas called Movie Palaces. Sadly out of print it is worth borrowing or hunting down secondhand

Check out cinematreasures.org -- I've been trying to find photo reference on the Alhambra Theatre in Sacramento, CA, USA, and all I can find are wide shots from street level. or interiors or side views. The theater was torn down @ 1973. :( If you have any info, please let me know.
