Taken in the spring of 1997 with my (then new) Elan IIe and Canon 100/2.8 Macro. Velvia. Boggen 3021 with 3265 head.

I liked that photo too, but 2 details pay my atention:- The light is not the better for a macro photo, it has vanish the textures of the flowers. - The first plan is out-of-focus. Macro photo is wondefull, but this litlle datails became bigger like the subject.

You're right:This scan (which is from a 5 x 7 Cibachrome) really pumped up the contrast in the image (leading to loss of detail in the flowers as well as the apparent harsher lighting).
The DOF was intentional-- I wanted only the flower in the left middle to be sharp.
