Agencies with more information should email The Oklahoman. Appropriate information will be updated as quickly as possible.

Citizens can help tornado victims through several local agencies collecting money and supplies:

The Salvation Army is collecting food and supplies. Items needed are clothing, blankets, diapers, formula, baby food, individual sized meals and snacks, sandwich items, individual size beverages, cleaning supplies, non-prescription medical supplies such as aspirin and band-aids. Collection sites include: The Salvation Army Oklahoma City Area Command, 311 SW 5th; Quail Springs Mall, mall hours, inside upper level Foleys; Sooner Fashion Mall, N Sears entrance; Moose Lodge in Norman, 2812 S Classen Blvd. and First Presbyterian Church, 555 S. University, Norman.

Monetary donations are needed and can be mailed to 311 SW 5th, OKC, OK 73109, or credit card donations can be made by calling 270-7800.

St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond is a collection point for materials to help tornado victims. Volunteers are needed to be on a stand-by list so they can be called to help when needed. To put your name on the list, call the church office, 340-0691.

United Way of Metro Oklahoma City is collecting contributions including credit card donations to help tornado victims. Donations may be earmarked for specific United Way Partner Agencies such as American Red Cross and Salvation Army.

To donate to the emergency fund, contact Susan Taylor, at 236-8441 x290. Make checks payable to United Way of Metro OKC, P.O. Box 837, OKC, OK 73101, Attention: disaster fund.

Oklahoma Goodwill Industries will have their trucks at the following locations to receive donations for tornado victims:

Pratts-SW74 and Walker

Bakers-I-44 and NW Expressway

Rod's Card Shop-4412 S. High (SW44th and High)

Goodwill Industries-410 S. Walker

The South Oklahoma City Council of Neighborhoods has established a Disaster Shelter at Councils Neighborhood Center located at 2200 SE 59th St. (between Eastern and Bryant). Those in need of shelter and food are encouraged to come to the Center. Supplies needed: baby necessities, toiletries and clothes. For more information call 672-7223.

Tinker Air Force Base is a temporary shelter for tornado victims. Relatives seeking information on family members stationed at Tinker, or family members or persons being temporarily sheltered on base may call 734-2535 or 734-2545.

AAA Oklahoma has established offices as drop-off locations for donations of clothing and food.

Memorial Road Church of Christ is collecting the following items to help the tornado victims: Bottled Water, Clothes, Socks, Shoes, Underwear, Blankets, Gas Powered Generators, Batteries, Flashlights, Diapers, Formula, Baby Wipes, Heavy Duty Work Gloves, Heavy Duty Trash Bags (heaviest possible), Paper Goods (toilet paper, paper towels, cups, etc.), Hygiene items (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.), Hairbrushes, Food (special need for pop top canned items: shoestring potato chips, Vienna sausages, crackers, canned fruit, etc.), PT Can openers (army supply stores), CASH Please deliver all relief supplies to the old south entrance.

Oklahoma Christian University is providing housing in the dorms (425-5000 or 425-5220 to make arrangements).

News 9 and the Bank of Oklahoma have established the Spirit of Oklahoma Relief Fund. Those wishing to make donations to the tornado disaster relief effort can do so at any Bank of Oklahoma location or at the News 9 studios. Donations of food, clothing and household items also can be made to Feed The Children at the News 9 studios at Wilshire and North Kelley in northeast Oklahoma City.
