It's almost midnight and I'm still sitting here pecking away at this thing! In less than 6 hours I'm going fishing with one of my co-workers so I need to get a few winks in.But before I do I feel that this point must be stressed to everyone whether they are GI's,DGI'S or whatever! We must take time out to enjoy life's simple pleasures. For me I am very lucky I guess,my job allows me lot's of time off.I work a 12 hour shift,8pm till 8am,on 2 day's off 2 work every other weekend.Leaves one with plenty of time to prepare or whatever. When I got off work this morning me and my dad went and cut 2 loads of wood adding to the 8 cords we've cut and split since March. It's been very hectic around here since the end of Dec.,but after 4 months it's starting to take it's toll. We've accomplished alot thus far,by no means are we going to stop.My sincere advice to all is simple, let's live our lives no matter what.We can only do so much at this point in time.If you're like me you never take your mind completely off of preps, but when you're sitting out on the lake, standing knee-deep in your waders in a clear mountain stream,or listening to that old boss gobbler answering your calls as the sun slowly peeks it's head above the horizon illuminating this beautiful world that we live in.When I see this I can't help but to peer up at the heavens and thank God for all this.I'm not trying to preach to anyone,Lord knows I,m not perfect.Bottom line, it's spring time in north Ga.,the white bass are ruuning up the rivers, turkeys are gobbling, the trout are jumping and the spring floral is simply breath-taking!Whether you fish, hunt or just like taking hikes, get outside take a break. It does wonders to a persons outlook on life in general.Let's all take time to smell the roses instead of just looking.Take care and god bless!

Why do you think I can't WAIT for Mid Ohio Track to open?/ I REALLY NEED to have some serious cars screaming by me at insane speeds for a while. It wears me out so totally, that Sunday night is the best sleep night in the week. I say I do this to stay sane.

SEMPER FI: Must be nice to be working the Fire-Medic schedule (NOT!!) Been there, used to work a 16 and a 24 each week.

Hey Semper, I am setting up shop in the n. Ga hills myself. Beautiful isn't it. Hey Chuck, be careful. Haven't you read that race spectating has beocme a hazardous hobby. Wear a flak jacket.

It may sound silly, but I have found "chicken-watching" to be an amazing stress reliever. I bought several chicks a few weeks back and have them in a large legacy iguana cage in the basement. I go down late at night and just sit and watch their growth and antics with fascination. They grow so fast, that changes are noticeable from day to day. It is fun to watch their "pecking order" challenges and attempts to roost and fly. They are such social critters. I find it easy to forget about everything else and become totally wrapped up in observing. Nice to take a breather from constantly "pushing" myself forward in those preparations.
