Vegetable growing in the tropics.Man against the Monkey

Collective wisdom,please.

Has anybody out there had any experience of protecting crops from troupes of monkeys ??Monkeys can eat and destroy a whole plot before 8am in the morning.

We know that if dogs are used, the monkeys just create diversions by splitting into disparate groups..

Is there anything that monkeys do not like ...apart from buckshot.

Good luck. If you can get to the crop, a monkey sure can as well. If there is no repellant available, just acquire a taste for monkey meat, I guess.

Those little jungle tribesmen who dip darts in that frog's sweat and shoot the monkeys, then eat them. You could probably pick up a couple those pretty cheap.....

DRAT, No leopards in the Caribbee ! Or poisonous frogs on the island.

We had thought of zoo doo(big cat's droppings sold as manure in the UK) but somehow I can see problems trying to import it.I guess it would have to be flown in so that the smell was still fairly fresh !! UCK!

I wondered whether a high frequency ultrasonic bleep may do the trick...except I don't know how similar a monkey's auditory system is to human's ?
