More festivals are opening up to DV films, projected from film and video. Let's hear some feedback.

Maxie -

I shot the first half of my holocaust documentary in Australia with a Canon XL-1. While I'm waiting for the rest of my funding to come in so I can shoot in Europe this summer, I could cut together 20 or 30 minutes for a film festival. However, I won't be laying out the bucks to transfer to film untill the project is finished.

Which film festivals accept (and project) digital video? Are there any that will play short films that are actually demos asking for money?

Just curious.

Chris

You can post your film on always Independent Films.com (www.alwaysif.com) and you can enter the site film festival. The festival takes place in August (2-22)It can be a very good place to start a buz around your film. The Always Independent Film Festival is the first festival that is completly paid for by sponsors not by the filmmakers (i.e. no festival entry fee)

The Cyberslag Foundation is a young organisation from the city of Groningen, The Netherlands, which focusses on new media and electronic music. Our main activity at this moment is the Open Electronic Festival (OEF). OEF took place last june on various locations in the city of Groningen and received positive and enthusiastic reactions from both the press and the public. Because of that the Cyberslag Foundation is currently broadening their horizons;

We are looking right now for dv filmmakers to contribute their work to The Open Electronic Festival 2000. An important part of the festival will be an emphasis on digital filmmmaking. In the meantime their will be a lot of screenings of short films/animation/digital video at our movie theatre in the City of Groningen.

So don't hesitate to send a copy your work. You can do so to the adress mentioned below

With kind regards,
