By the way - Miss Git - you gotta think about this hear radio lingo:

Over and out means "I'm finshed talking (Over) and am leaving the circuit (Out).

If you want to tel the "other guy" that you are going to release the "switch" for him to talk, but will be present to listen to his reply - you gotta use just Over.

Also, to other savy listeners out there - which is first in "Five by Five": Clarity or Loudness? It it the same order as "Loud and Clear"?

In the Navy, it's "Loud and Clear" on a 5-point scale, as in 1,5: "faint and clear" or 5,1: "loud and garbled". 1st is strenth of signal, 2nd is clarity of signal (can it be understood). "5 by 5" is "loud and clear"

Chuck, as an ambulance driver, is more familiar with the emergency services ten-codes. Had a good conversation with Chuck and wife, wish I were as prepared as they are.

Which reminds me--the people from this forum with whom I've conversed by phone or in person have all been eminently sensible-sounding people! Yeah, I know, that's what neighbors always say about serial killers! But, seriously, without exception they've been articulate, quick-witted, self-assured, and creative. What a pity the media never interview these folks.
