Backlit Saguro

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

I had two hours free in Tucson last weekend and struggled to capture the saguros in the flat light around sunrise. I found this shot to be the most interesting. My other attempts at backlighting ended up with flare problems (even with the 80-200!). Shot on Velvia with a Nikon F100 + 80-200/f2.8, and scanned on a Nikon LS-2000.

Nice shot, I liked the the efect the light produces ... very nice one.

Thanks, Charles. I found the lighting and subject matter to be a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Backlighting gave the most interesting shots. I did get another nice "saguaro at sunrise" shot with some nice partly cloudy skies. Definitely a place to catch the sunsets!

Very nice. Making the most of a difficult situation is very satisfying.
