Be sure to read "Dan the Power man" and "NERC to cover up" threads below. And can someone please tell me what the initials NERC stand for?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The two posts I mentioned may be useful in helping DGIs understand why the happy-face test reports are not to be believed. And I know NERC has something to do with our energy, but I don't know what the letters stand for. Enlightenment, please.

PS - Not to be confused with www.nerc.org - NorthEast Recycling Council (grin) <:)=

I thought it stood for North american Electric Remediation Coverup...

If you read the threads, please do not confuse NERC's PR campaign for the April 9 "test" with the studied personal opinion of a single employee of the power industry. They are two very different animals.

PS you are priceless! "what does NERC stand for"?

And you've been a self apointed Y2K expert for how long now?

A HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!

Just last week or so you were complaining "can this forum be saved" because it was such a great place for information. You've tipped your hand! you don't give a rip about verifiable, OR research! you just want to be spoon fed your daily y2k pablum/doommeme!

keep it up! LOL!

Mutha=

Pearlie has NEVER set herself up as a Y2K Expert. Should you consider this to be an inacurate statement, I encourage you to link me to the post, etc.

What she was "lamenting" on was the dearth of reasonably accurate, informative articles/posts on USABLE skills/topics/etc. A dearth I also have noticed.

"When I am among friends who are only slightly aware of Y2K, the moment they show the least interest in the subject I reveal myself to be a Y2K expert. Compared to them I am an expert, and I have enough knowledge to tell them everything they need to know to either Get It or develop enough interest to search for more info. Most of the people on this forum are the same type of expert, and we will do more to help our friends and relatives than any government spokesperson. We are the experts!

These kinds of people are the problem with Year 2000 concerns. They know little or nothing, gather some fear-factoids from the net (or where ever) then proceed to spread this among those who know even less than they do! They actually believe "point and click" qualifies them as 'experts'! How "expert" is someone that doesn't even know what NERC stands for? (couldn't possibly have visited their website...so what kind of 'research' could they be doing? I'm willing to bet its the "flip-top head" syndrome of 'garynorth.conjob' or this forum, etc. "Ignore any good news, it's all spin", blah, blah, blah) You know the drill.

ta-ta!

Just as a P.S. here....I could care less if the uninformed want to stockpile beans & rice, learn how to make soap, proper use of a buckskin condom, how to eat roses, whatever... I just wish they would get some REAL facts before they scare the crap out of their family and friends with "the grid will go down" or "when the veneer of society is pulled back" "the gubmint is all liars" etc. ....

-- Mutha Nachu (---@sockeyerun.com), April 15, 1999.

Geez, "mutha"

you are an arrogant bitch, aren't you? to bad, your questions on that other "who are the experts" thread were pretty good.

Why doen't you stop the condecension? I used to be TERRIFIED of Y@K but I think it won't be as bad now. You sporting a bad attitude isn't going to calm anyone; just annoy them.

wake up!

All these kiddies thinking they can "point and click" their way to y2k expertize...and I'm the arrogant one?!?

Great Coodilly-Moodilly....

(pssst Chuck, any comment? I noticed you posted on some other threads) YA GOT YER EARS ON?

-- Mutha Nachu (---@dogwoodlinedstreet.html), April 18, 1999.

Someone who considers themselves an expert because they've done a massive amount of personal research and hands-on work toward personal preparation, for example, is probably justified. Pearlie didn't say she was an IT systems analyst. Just that compared to those who are still clueless, she's expert re: "Y2K." Why people who are so unconcerned about Y2K and so rude to others feel the need to publicly post is beyond me. It reminds me of Atheists who are vehemently attacking the illogic of christianity, and yet, they don't even believe it yet they're the ones spending their time hanging around christian forums. Now that is really stupid. In Y2K the same personality profile seems to apply.

Yup, I gotta agree with PJ. Why are you here Mutha? Now, don't go calling this a violation of our truce, I'm not calling you names. I just want to know why you are hanging out here. You, and your friends Y2K Pro, Norm, and a dozen others lately. What is your motive? Balance? We get that every day from the media. Why are >>> YOU <<< here??? <:)=
