Malpractice insurance

Everyone has received a disclaimer from your insurance co. about not expecting to be insured for anything y2k related-anyway does anyone know if medical malpractice is doing the same? I'm sure they are but would like to hear first hand. Can't you see it giving birth and the fetal monitor malfunctions due to bad data the Dr. walks away because he's not insured or does an unneeded procedure and makes things worse. I know there are good people in medicine but the pressure would be enormous everthing breaking down and the hospitals are like Russia.

Noticed recently that when someone brings up the subject of a refinery explosion, or whatever, and asks the group whether we think it might be Y2K-related, the pollys or others will jump in to announce it is just operations as usual? It can be hard to know for sure, right? Often the press release will proactively deny any Y2K relationship (just human error, as though that is some comfort). I have been thinking recently about insurance coverage and the incentive the insurance companies will have to try to establish that the problem *is* Y2K-related. I'm sure we'll see some creative ways to make that connection, but I expect the situation will be clouded in a number of factors that will be hard to sort out.
