Anyone have good recipies to use the food we're storing? I'm looking for some variety for rice, tuna, and pasta. Thanx.

try www.y2kkitchen.com She is posting recipes that need little to no cooking, done on a stove top in one dish. Not too many recipes yet, but it looks like a good site.

somebody turned me on to the y2kitchen newsletter too (its not the y2kkitchen site that is listed above, which I also really like) - they email a newsletter once a week addressing preparations from scratch with some recipes. the newsletter signup is on http://www.motivatedseller.com/y2kitchen.html Kind of interesting too is that they only give out the newsletter, they don't sell buckets of stuff or anything. Just helpfull info.

Thanx for the info. I've checked out all three and have received the newsletter and have gotten some good recipies already! This is going to be a big help!

This is a slow cooker recipe that my family enjoys quite often:

Garbanzo Spaghetti 2 16 oz. cans garbanzo beans 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes 1 teas. rosemary, crushed 1 teas. Italian seasoning, (optional) 1 tblsp. dried parsley

1 lb. Spaghetti parmesan cheese for garnish

Puree or mash ONE can of garbanzo beans with it's liquid. Pour into pot, along with the second can of beans, with their liquid, the tomatoes, and spices. Cook on low long enough for the flavors to mingle (in the crockpot it's around 6 hours, but this could be adapted to a solar cooker for the same amount of time, or a pot on a stove on medium for about 1/2 hour).

Serve like spaghetti sauce over the cooked spaghetti noodles.
