Exporting ICC Profiles

I am having trouble exporting ICC profiles. When I pick the *.ICC extension, the file saved does not receive that extension. It gets the Onyx profile extension (*.opl). Also, I would like to import the ICC profile into a software application on a MAC. It does not work. Is it possible? Help!

I was told by someone (and I don't remember if it was someone from Onyx or somewhere else) that the profiles only work in Postershop. I also tried exporting them as ICC files because I wanted to be able to use them in Photoshop but I was told that was not possible. If this is not true, someone let me know.

The Import/Export Profiles utility is only to install new media profiles or to export your media profiles to save, move, or give to someone else with the same printer and postershop. It is a good idea to frequentyl back up your media's If you create alot of custom media profiles like I do. But it isn't like normal icc profiles it is just a media utility for postershop. see ya Darrel

I have successfully exported icc-profiles to MAC. I can export them with *.icc extension. If not the extension can be changed. The more important thing is to have proper creator and type resources for the MAC in the icc-file. Just copy the icc file to MAC's ColorSync profiles folder. After that you have to modify the file with for example free Resedit from Apple and change the file "type" to "prof" and "creator" to "sync". The profile should after that have an proper icon. Be advised also that some programs for example Apple ColorSync 2.5 don't understand 16-bit *.icc profiles. If you have made your profiles with the Profile Generator the option "Table Size" selects either 8-bit or 16-bit profile to be made. Hope this helps!
