er, smitty, people have been trying this sort of thing for *at least* 20 years...and they still get prosecuted in federal court, and they still eventually lose.

sorry, but the IRS is an extra-constitutional agency, they've already demonstrated that they don't have to play by the rules.

personally I consider my tax payments a bribe to keep the government away - sort of like what bar owners pay the mob...

Hey, we created and ratified a constitutional republic here. What's all this crap about an extra-constitutional agency? The treasonous perpetrators at the IRS should all be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of constitutional law.

Good for Joe! But I fear we've set a precedent of dutifully paying and won't be able to just quit. Reading Three Mobs: Labor, Church and Mafia by Wilfrid Sheed would have been a more compelling read had it been Three Mobs: IRS, Church and Mafia.

I've read that in Italy, avoiding taxes is a widely practiced art. I also read that the Italian government will be getting around to looking at this y2k thing real soon now, maybe.

Whether there's any connection, I don't know.

Don't you think 50%, whatever, bribe to the Fed and the state is a tad high to keep them off your back? I consider 50% as being my back. Especially with sales taxes, property taxes, vehicle license taxes, gas taxes, utility taxes ... ?

If you think you could put that "income" tax money to better use than the government will, maybe for some little trivial items like Y2K prep, also check out another site also, and buy Otto's frickin' book (costs less than a kerosene lanterm).

Banister walks in the company of Michael New. These are good men! They should be our role models. Men such as William Wallace, Patrick Henrey, Robert E. Lee etc. These men value/valued the Truth over comfort. We need to attempt to do what is right no matter the cost.

Deo Vindice (God Vindicates) Christus Victor (Christ the Victor over death),

BR

PS

Men like these faced almost certain death in places like Stirling Bridge, Cemetery Ridge, etc. They did not value comfort over Truth.
