1.www.glitchproof.com 2. a. primarliy to absorb oxygen from closed airtight containers; food spoils by several methods including bacterial action, enzymatic action and oxidation. The oxidation is primarily of oils in the foods. Oxidation of oils in foods is synonymous with rancidity. o2 absorbers help lessen rancidity. b. Pests have a harder time thriving in oxygen depleted environments.

I've also heard of a supplier called Royco, but I know nothing about them. Glitchproof gave good service.

I got some from glitchproof but they came without instructions and I realized that I wanted to be in and out of my containers (5 gal buckets) all the time, so I sent them back and am using bay leaves and diatomaceaous earth -- the latter you can get at www.wholewheat.com. I am in the dry southwest, if I were in a humid climate I would go with the O2 absorbers.

Why waste your time and money on preparing for long time storage with oxygen absorbers, if you will be using your food storage in 9 months? Don't waste your money buying plastic buckets and storing for long time? It just does not make sense to do that! Y2K is just around the corner!!!

Beg to differ. If you're going to the trouble and expense to put away staples, go ahead and do the whole thing. It doesn't cost much more or take much more time if you do everything while you're in the process, and your staples will be good for years and years if you store them properly.

Glitchproof is a good source- see www.glitchproof.com for how's and why's as well as order info. Get mylar bags too if you plan to use buckets... .

Remember not every thing should be stored with 02s.Sugars get hard as a rock.I would not use 02s with sprouting beans either although mwny do opinions differ.Seeds too.
