Mountains Surrounding Eagle River, Alaska

Hand assembled panorama from (8) 35mm frames. Taken with EOS 630 & cheap 35-70mm zoom lens. Because of the WIIIIDDEE aspect ratio and stringent Image rules, you might want to check out the LARGE version of this which is 1826x510 pixels and 191k in size.

Mike,

Your photo took my breath away!!! Trying to learn computer imaging myself I can imaginge what it took to create this. The large image on my twenty one inch monitor is beautiful!! I hate to say this but the small rock included in the left hand corner is distracting to me. I realize it might give some perspective but I don't need it. When viewing the large image it's almost like a free hang glider ride! Keep up the good work!!

Very nice. I love the unusually wide aspect ratio.

The "rock" looks like a shadow on the large image. Is that Eagle River on the far right over the ridge? Great shot, good light. The far ridge and sky are a little overexposed. I remember this country well, thanks for the memory.

Cheers

Nice job of hand joining the images!

I like panorama photos and you did a great job assembling it, but as an image, it doesn't "speak" to me. The sky and clouds are washed out, the greenish-yellowish color of the front mountain range isn't pleasing (to my eye) and worst of all, this picture isn't sharp. This becomes especially apparent in your large version. Could be the scanning, could be the cheap zoom. I look at it and can't help thinking, what a pity you didn't take it in black&white with a Fuji 690GSW medium format camera.

Thanks for the comments. I took these shots about 8 years ago, before I knew anything about f-stops and shutter speeds. I put my EOS 630 in landscape mode which of course prioritizes a small aperture.

Unfortunately the last 8 years yellowed the "1 hour" prints, so color correction and such was difficult and obvious on the images above.

I hope when I get a negative scanner that the negatives yield better "image pieces" than these old abused prints did.
