Database program

greenspun.com : LUSENET : S-Mart Shopping Cart : One Thread

Hi, First I would like to say thanks to all that have helped me out with getting "S-mart" up and going, I really appericate all of your e-mails and input with my problems. Now does anyone know of a database program that will work for making the "demo.db" file. I have about 3,000 items to enter and I am looking for the easiest way to create my product database.

Thanks for any input

Joe.

The database doctor is an excellent script for adding, editing, deleting, sorting by id number or any other field. You can find it at:

If you already have your products in some form of list you can use a spread sheet. I had to start with Word and do a search and replace to replace tabbed data sheets into a csv file. I then imported into excel and moved the column around and exported as csv. I then opened it back up in Word and did a search and replace to replace commas with the pipe symbol and saved as a text file. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is actually quite quick if you have a lot of data to work with.
