Joe,

Welcome back - long time no post. This looks like female #87 to me. I like the tight framing and the fact that you got down to her eye level. Very nice. Looks like you got her entire snout in focus, and there's great detail in the shell and forelegs. Very little distracting glare from the flash either, probably because of the tight framing. Even got a catch light in the eye! What more can you ask for? Well, I suppose Jeff Greenburg could ask that you catch her in the act of eating a Stilosoma extenuatum to add some "drama", but I'll leave that avenue of critique to him. Beats the crap out of any box turtle shots I've got.

I agree with Peter -- great shot! The catchlight really helps, and if I'm not mistaken I can even see a catchlight in the other eye as well. I like the way her (I can't tell a male from a female, but I'll take Peter's word for it) head is only partway extended -- makes her look shy. This probably helped with getting the whole head and front left leg and front of the shell in focus also.

Very nice detail, a sharp eye always seems to make for a sharp image. I especially like how the extended leg gives it a sense of movement, no easy task for this slow creature!

Thanks to everyone who has commented so far! I appreciate your input very much. Does anyone else have any comments?
