off topic....ANTRAX in Afgahanistan

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

More than 9,000 people in a remote area of Afghanistan have been struck with a deadly illness ...... Respiratory problems like those in both the Afghanistan epidemic and the Atlanta incident are also being reported by Americans in a dozen states...... People have complained of respiratory problems including prolonged coughing, sinus infections and trouble breathing that they attribute to strange jet airplane contrails spread in the air by large unmarked aircraft resembling cargo planes. Sufferers say wispy white strands of material fall from the contrails and dissolve in the sunlight. Callers to late night talk shows......think the US government is spraying the nation with a vaccine to prevent the rapid spread of a biowarfare agent like anthrax. Interesting reading www.american-reporter.com/1015/full_issue.html Maybe a link, maybe not

Antrax

I simply do not know where my paragraphs go. Sorry this has run together. Still it is a good article.

Linda, the link doesn't work, says file not found. Looks like it's on Greenspun's server too.

Not off-topic because "terrorism" has become the substitute word for Y2K as the USA governments (doesn't) handles it.

Terrorists are opportunists and of course will try to take advantage of rollover chaos. Very glad some parts of USA are preparing for terrorist attacks. Just wish they'd be more up-front and honest about Y2K, which has a tangible deadline and need to be approached with the fatalistic guerrilla attitude.

The fact that ppl are falling ill with these symptoms, and the contrail reports are included in the article, does have bearing on the Y2K barometers. Thanks, Linda A.

Think you were right the first time, Leska.

nope, nope, nope, Y2K doesn't have to be random, and there's tons we the weeple can do to mitigate its impact & severity.

Most discussions seem fixated upon Anthrax. I suspect, however, that the government is more concerned about Hantavirus. This nasty little bug is carried by deer mice. It is the "Four Corners" disease which was in the news some time ago. More info on it can be found on the CDC website. Problem for all of us is that it is easily obtained, it is simply cultured (in mice), people are infected via a ripe areosol, it is somewhat persistent, and it is 50% fatal even with treatment. If the gov is as concerned as it should be then maybe the contrails are inoculating us against Hantavirus.
