Problems with EPSON Perfection 636 Scanner

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have been using the Epson Perfection 636 scanner for about 3 months. When it works, it does a good job. Unfortunately it only works about half the time. I have been on the phone with Epson about six times, unloaded software, loaded software, replaced SCSI cards, etc. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Yes, Fred, I too have had a bad experience with an Epson 1200S scanner running on NT 4.0. Mine worked for 5 mos. and then quit. I've replaced scsi cards, cables, software, twain drivers, cleaned my registry, even had the local service dealer send it back to Epson and claims they replaced the mainboard. Their tech support is a joke. I've gotten incorrect information, and once they were going to send me a new driver, and instead sent me a film adapter user guide. My scanner has been down since 2/29/00. No one seems to be able to able to fix it. I'm taking this $300.00 paperweight back to their local service dealer tomorrow and demand a remedy. I've lost all respect for Epson over this. I'm back to Hewlet Packard for any future hardware! I know this doesn't solve your problem, but I sympathize with your situation. Good Luck!
