Does Anyone know what Happened to Shots magazine?

Shots, A Journal Of Fine Photography was a small, almost hand made photo-magazine published bi-monthly out of Joseph Oregon buy Daniel Price, a very long time ago (1990!). I discovered it at issue 21, and issue 23 was the last one to arrive at the only book store in Vancouver which carried it. Even the book seller had no idea why they stopped being sent. 9 years is a long time, but I still have those magazines, still look at the pictures he published, am just as amazed today at the quality and spirit of the journal, it's publisher, and it's contributors. Since this place on The Net seems to have a very similar spirit, I was hopeing some of you migh have encountered it, and might know what became of it and it's creator, and what he might be up to now. Thanks.

Thanks foir the complement, David. Yes, Shots influenced my concept for B&W World! It was about 6-8 years ahead of it's time, forming a print community of photographers. It would probably do very well on the web, but I have a feeling Dan wouldn't hear of it.

I corresponded with Daniel Price for several years after meeting him when he visited the offices of Modern Photography in NYC in 1988 (After he showed me the first issue of Shots we went to the local bagel joint for a round one & a cup o'Java, and became fast friends.) Unfortunately we got distracted by our respective lives, and have lost touch. It would be great to be able to drop him a line!

Cheers, Mason

yes, Shots is still around. i picked up issue #62 (dec. 98) just a while ago. it's still as independent and quirky as always. it's been a while since d.price ran it; now Shots is put together by robert owen. it's very much worth checking out. although i doubt they publish photography on the web (if you've read the zine, you'll understand why), they do have a webpage at , email at shots1234@aol.com. and postal ata pobox 390429, minneapolis, mn, 55439-0429.

Shots magazine

Thanks for bringing this site to my attention. The photographs are first rate, and they really know how to scan them.
