Appraisal Needed for American 18th Grandfather Clock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I have an Isaac Brokow grandfather clock [circa 1790's American, Bridgeton,New Jersey] and need to have it appraised. I live in Anderson, SC, - near Atlanta GA,/ Charlotte NC,/Greenville, SC. Can you suggest someone who is knowledgeable about grandfather clocks from any of those areas?

Thank you.

Call the Appraisers Society of America at 800/ASA-BALU to find the name of an appraiser in that region who specializes in clocks.

You may want to consider joining the National Association of Clock and Watch Collectors. Their publications and materials are fascinating. As a member you could submit the clock to their "answer box." Someone very knowledgable will tell you everything you wanted to know about your clock. It isn't a formal "appraisal" per se and probably will not give you a value, but you will learn a lot.
