Latest NERC report

The January NERC survey results are available at:

ftp://ftp.nerc.com/pub/sys/all_updl/docs/y2k/january1999.xls

The completion average for Remediation and Testing is now at 57%, up from 44%. The composite completion date has slipped a couple of days, which probably means a couple dozen reporting utilities slipped a month. And a lot more report they're complete.

Unfortunately, you can't tell who is who, nor match the anonymous utility numbers up with those in the November NERC report, they're different now. So no tracking the progress of individual anonymous utilities.

Projection: Most will make it, but not all. Are you feeling lucky?

"Most will make it, but not all."

Safe bet, concurred in by such diverse personalities as John Koskinen and Rick Cowles.

Question 1: will enough make it so that the grid stays up?

(Probably -- you don't get an unconditional yes on this.)

Question 2: will enough make it, in the right locations, so that I have power? (probably not -- I'm not one of the lucky ones)
