National Guard Blurb On ABC Station

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

On the 11:30 a.m. news today (Channel 13, KTRK, Houston, TX) there was a short clip on the National Guard preparing for major disruptions due to Y2K. I was amazed at the footage of black helicopters. I thought maybe they were going to discuss the recent military exercises in small Texas towns, but they didn't. It was all about Y2K. Did anyone else see this?

Wow, Gayla! It won't take many reports like that to cause the herd to start bleeting uneasily. Keep us outside of the Republic apprised of any further developments.

Gayla, please post this on the threads re Military Exercises, Texas, etc. Always knew it would be surprising, no matter how prepared we are, when Y2K comes out in the open. Connect the dots and wake up, sleeping slumbering sheeple! Is anyone going to sleep better by counting sheep anymore?

The topic got 15 sec on CNN this morning, 6:30 am or so Central time. No footage.

The report about the National Guard preparing for possible Y2K problems was on the radio this a.m. If it was in Texas and in WI today--I have to assume it was reported in alot of states today.

It was on the morning news in Kansas City...710 AM radio news/weather/sports at the top of the hour. No specific details, just that the National Gaurd is preparing for the Year 2000 with exercises that deal with multiple scenarios, from power outages to civil disturbances. I feel safer already.

Thanks Gayla!

I hate it when they dont have a web-site, at least according to abc.com:

http://abc.go.com/ local_stations/tx.html

As a local do you know if they are net worthy? Sometimes, not always, the locals have full-text transcripts of their news stories avaliable online.

Diane, I know what you mean! Supposedly they have a web site under construction. I would love to get my hands on a copy of the transcript. I will be taping the 5 and 6 o'clock news just in case they run it again. If so, I will transcribe it here. Judging by the comments of the others who have heard this today also, was it a "planned" release of information???
