Which On-Line Bookstore To Buy From?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

Someone recently referred to a darkroom book in this forum and mentioned that it was available at Amazon.com. For those who don't realize it, Black & White World is partnered with Books.Com, a competitor to Amazon.

If you're planning to buy a book anyway, you can support B&W World's existance buy getting it through our bookstore. We get a comission when you buy through our connection to Books.com. We don't get anything if you buy through Amazon.

Pricing is about the same--Books.Com has an automated program that checks out the competitors' prices and makes sure thir selling price is at least a few cents lower.

To make sure we are credited properly for any book purchases, please follow this procedure: Simply go to www.photogs.com/bwworld/bwbooks.html and click through to books.com (don't just type in the URL...we won't get a commission unless you click through from the B&W Bookstore).

Thanks for your help--remember that by patronizing our book store you're helping to keep B&W World going!

Bookstore to buy from?

Barnes & Noble have an on-line bookstore and will send a catalogue, on a regular basis, to anyone requesting the catalogue. You can find their home-page by using any good search engine, (Altavist, HotBot, etc.), AND B&N sells books at a discount most of the time.

David,

Is it something I've said or done? Why are you pointing people away from the B&W World bookstore and thereby encouraging people not to support this web site?

This may be redundant, but since you don't seem to get it, I'll repeat:

Buying books through the B&W World Bookstore (http://www.photogs.com/ bwworld/bwbooks.html) supports B&W World. I do not ask for contributions, simply that when you are buying books, to do so through this site.

When I chose to partner B&W World with Books.Com, I considered Amazon and B&N. I found the selections and price to be the same, but Books.Com's commission is slightly better. Books.Com has as complete a stock of photography books as I have seen.

BTW, in case anyone suspects excessive greed on my part, my monthly comissions cover my on-line access with a few dollars to spare, and do not begin to compensate for the 10-20 hours I spend every month putting this site together.
