"Derailing Y2K": A Rail Industry Look At Y2Kgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
In my mailbox today was the March 1999 issue (#424) of Rail News magazine. Part of the top banner is an article title of "Derailing Y2K". It's eight pages long and provides overview info on how Y2K is being dealt with by the rail industry with highlights on the AAR (American Association of Railroads) and the major rail companies: Amtrak, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), CSX, Norfolk Southern (NS) and Union Pacific (UP). The overall tone of the article is pretty positive, but not smiley-faced, "All is well, never mind the flames.", pollyanna positive.Y2K info web sites for all the major railroads were listed and are:
Amtrak - www.amtrak.com/news/pr/atk98164.html
BNSF - www.bnsf.com/about_bnsf/html/year_2000_project.html
CSX - www.csx.com/cus/html/y2k.html
NS - www.nscorp.com/html/y2k.html
UP - www.up.com/y2k/

Is there anyway you can post a short summary of the article? This is not a magazine that is in the general public domain !
