IS Operation Characteristics ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I recently got the 28-135 IS lens and in the back of manual is a Table titled "Image Stabilisation Operation Characteristics", in which is listed most EOS bodies and the effects of the IS "After Shutter Release", "While Charging built-in flash", After Using DEP mode", etc. The effects range from No Image Shake to Substantial Image Shake, with different bodies in different modes.

Does that mean that I can't use this lens on an RT since there is "Substantial Image Shake" in the After Shutter Release column ?

Confusing table.....

It just means that IS will quit working after you release the shutter until you take your finger off the shutter button and press it again (I think). Bodies that came out much before IS lenses were introduced work with IS lenses, they just work a little differently than the newer bodies. Using custom function 4 changes things also.

The lens should work fine on your RT, just be sure to give the IS a couple of seconds to stabilize when possible. Hopefully Bob Atkins will post here, since I think he can explain it better than me. I only have experience with IS and the Elan IIe, which works as designed with IS.
