Two Southern Shortlines

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Shortline, Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railroading : One Thread

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any info on two shortlines in the south: the Paris & Mount Pleasant Railroad in Texas and the Marianna & Blountstown Railroad in Florida (like when they were built, what they hauled, ownership, when they were abandoned etc.) Any info would be most appreciated on both subjects. I know that there are references to both lines in Lucius Beebe's 1946 book "Mixed Train Daily", but both companies are long out of business. My e-mail address is mdamico23@hotmail.com. Thank you....

Also if anyone needs info on shortlines, please drop me an e-mail as I have done extensive research on various lines from time to time.

Tom Lawson is coming with a new book on panhandle RR's or logging RR's I am not sure which, but he did tell me the M&B was in it. I got him a picture for it, but wasn't good enuf, so told him about the museum that had it, and he got one there. It was ole #444. 73 Roy

There was an article, on the Paris & Mount Pleasant, in the Journal of Texas Short Line Railroads. The Address is 11902 Conann Ct,; Austin, TX 78753. Mr. Lester Haines is the publisher. The Journal is very well done and features a different railroad in each quarterly issue. I believe that back issues are available for all issues, about 11. I have some pictures of the line and some information. hope this helps.
