Answers

Skimmed it. Anyone who quotes from "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" is simply a moron. That he disregards Y2K is more proof than we need.

What an offensive piece of crap. I try to keep an open mind but my mind is not open to antisemitism. It errodes more than Hollywood. SO please keep this kind of stuff to yourself or in the trash.

I just don't know about "Pastor Peter J.Peters" He says fears of nuclear holocaust in the 1950s and 1960s were "manufactured fears". Why2k, are you familiar with the general effects of a hydrogen bomb? Holy Smokes, Batman, that whole city just went kaplooey. I'm sure the Pastor is well intentioned, let's just say I'm not going to be hiring him in the risk management arena.

I will say this. There's not much the average citizen could do about nuclear holocaust. In stark contrast, Y2k suffering, at least in this unbelivably wealthy country, could be greatly diminished if proper preparedness were put into place.

I believe that the FBI has already recognized this group as a fringe anti-Semitic organization.

-- Reporter (foo@foo.bar), February 09, 1999.

It appears that I was mistaken in even saying that Pastor Petey was well-intentioned. Based on the other posts, I'll retract that remark.

-- Puddintame (dit@dot.com), February 09, 1999.

Puddintame, The retraction was a good decision. Here's some info on what our good friend Why2K? (AKA, racist F***) is linking to.

BTW,

If I recall correctly, Why2K? has been trolling around on several other threads over the past few weeks. Question... Why2K?, I guess you are both a DGI and a racist F***. Were you born this way, or were you beaten with a shovel?

I. Profile Report Name: Christian Identity, aka Anglo-Israelism, aka Israel Identity

Founder: Wesley Swift

Date of Birth: could not locate

Birthplace: Alabama

How/why?: Swift, a former Klansman, combined a virulent anti-Semitism with the philosophy of Anglo-Israelism developed by Jon Wilson in England in 1870-71

Sacred texts: Old and New Testaments of Christian Bible; some branches believe the authors of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were divinely inspired

Cult or Sect: Cult

Beliefs: Northern Europeans are Jewish and God's true Chosen People. Those claiming to be Jews are not Jews but Asians, and are the descendants of Cain, who was the spawn of the seed of evil planted in Eve when she fell to the Serpent's temptation. God-fearing White Chosen must wage an apocalyptic battle against the false Jews and Zionists, who are in an international banking conspiracy to undermine American family values by promoting homosexuality, interracial marriages, and Bill Clinton. Blacks are not humans but are the "beasts" the Bible refers to as being created prior to man.

Size of group: Unknown, but estimated at 30,000 adherents diffused through various organizations, with no central structure.

Remarks: This movement appears more as a religious justification for a political and racial ideology than a religion in itself. The movement's current unofficial spiritual leader is Rev. Peter J. Peters, who also rose to prominence among militia groups following the FBI-Randy Weaver standoff at Ruby Ridge. Various left-wing groups have been happy to link everyone from Pat Buchanan to alleged Oklahoma City bombers Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols with Christian Identity groups. The clandestine military nature of many cells, coupled with the lack of any central organizing structure, makes identification of membership difficult to establish.

You're (us your-done-fore's - I think is their term) forgetting something here.

There appears to be a tremedous, well-organized, high-level, high-money deliberate attempt to denigrate, disinform, and deny to the public the potential threat from troubles stemming from infrastruture failure next year.

If so, is it not apparent that any ability to "link" mentally those who are preparing with those who this adminstration already has declared terrorists and extremist-survivialist fanatic? If there are already wild-eyed Nazi freaks, racists, extremists, actual terrorist groups out there, does it not make sense to link them in the public's mind with those conservative christian groups who are legitimately preparing. you are dealing in propaganda, impressions, sound-bites handed to a compliant media and disinformation here - not facts, actual analysis, or pro/con positions.

Isn't just getting this group and Y2K in the same headline all they want? After al, all they need is an excuse - right? The facts have never mattered yet to this crew - why start now?

Looks like some buttons have been pushed. My apologies. Obviously you're all entitled to your opinions, but I'd like you to take a look at the kind of knee-jerk reaction my post inspired. Don't you see? The very way you have demonized Christian Identity is the manner in which members of the Y2K "cult" will be demonized in the near future. I doubt that many will check for themselves, but the true Identity message is nothing like what "d" wrote, or should I say copied in the form of disinformation from the Southern Poverty Law Center's site.

In response to "d"'s enlightened opinion: On the contrary, I 'get it', and do believe that Y2K will be a disaster (which belief seems to be more like an article of faith than an opinion on this forum), although not for the reasons most here seem to believe. I provided the link for those who might be interested in a different point of view on Y2K. I am not a racist. Implicit in the term 'racist' is the belief in one's own race's superiority, and the inferiority of other races. I feel the white race may be supremely stupid, but not supreme in any other way. Every race was created by God, and has its own merits.

Think about what I have said. Soon, the appelation of "GI" will carry the same perjorative sense as "Christian Identity"... prepare to be vilified.

Point noted, point taken .. thank you.

Christian Identity Responds to SPLC

-- Why2K? (who@knows.com), February 09, 1999.

Why2k, since you said the reactions were knee-jerk, I went back and read some more. Now after due consideration, let me say this: "Pastor Petey P. Peters is as crazy as a Mexican jumping bean. His epistle is one steaming pile of bull compost. I hope this individual's organization is not considered a tax-exempt entity by the US govt."

-- Puddintame (dit@dot.com), February 09, 1999.

I'm sorry Why2K?, but the information I posted is correct. In the christian identity web site they link to, what they call "like minded sites."

Let's see what they have to offer huh? Hmm, a publisher called Weisman Publications. They print such classics as, "America: Free, White & Christian" and "Discrimination: The Key To Sanity."

Wow, that doesn't sound racist at all. Lets see what else we can find. I would sure hate to seem closed minded.

Well here is what Peter J. Peters has to say about his work.

Pete Peters directed to guest: "If you're going to talk about Jews on my program talk about them as anti-Christ Jews." (January 9, 1997 radio broadcast)

"Pastor" Fred Phelps of Topeka, Kansas joined Peters in a bit of Jew bashing on a January 9,1997 radio broadcast. "So many of these Jews are homosexuals, nearly every prominent movement--groups like the Gay and Lesbian Task Force -- nearly every one of them is dominated, presided over by a Jew, a fag Jew." Pete Peters responded, "And that's just a fact ladies and gentlemen."

Boy, you're right, it looks like I was spreading propaganda. Enough of the sarcasm... Christian Identity doesn't need to be vilified, they do a great job all by themselves. You're obviously hoping that no one will do any checking. Well, a quick search on your favorite engine will give you enough Peter J. Peters quotes to have you gagging for a week. If you're not racist, then why in the hell would you think that we'd want the opinion of these morons?

-- d (d@usedtobedgi.old), February 09, 1999.

Actually, the identity cultists (and they refer to themselves as "Israel-Identity" or "the church of Jesus Christ - Christian, among themselves) have been labeld as a cult by every major Christian cult study organization.

Moreover the identity cultists are directly connected with both the Aryan Nations AND the National Front, two neonazi organizations which advocate (among other things) the violent overthrow of the United States.

Never, Never, NEVER trust a nazi. Never turn your back on one, never allow one onto your property, never give them any idea what you may or may not own. They have absolutely no loyalty whatsoever to anyone outside of their own organizations; they are ruled entirely by fear; and they are taught blind obedience to their leadership to the point where they eventually lose all moral sense.

I have no use for them under any circumstances.

Some Identity folk are nazis, no doubt about it. I've met them, and find them and their philosophy utterly repugnant. Some are white supremacists, and I despise them also. I've also met Catholics, Muslims and Jews who are evil. However, the majority of Identity adherents are decent, hard-working people who care a great deal about their country. There's been some pretty wide brushes used here... all I can say is that I sincerely hope that similar brushes are never used on you.

God bless you, and may He grant you the ability to see through the lies - there are so many of them.
