Mme. Nature:

SO? What's Ed's business life got to do with how Y2K is going to affect people on this forum?

Ma'am, please profile yourself and explain why it's important to you that participants on this forum change our opinions regarding Y2K.

What's in it for you? Tell us.

-- Lisa (fire@brimstone.nextyear), February 09, 1999.

You can choose to participate if you need to be educated about Y2K and want to make a fast buck. Nothing wrong with that. But time is running out so take advantage of it if you need to.

Oh, No, Bar Dou

Say it isn't so.

I moved to get out of the shadow of the 7-11, but I'm only 4.5 miles from the only Burger King in 40 miles!

Biosphere to Mutha Nachu - come in, Mutha Nachu.

Answer the questions; what's your agenda? Ours (mostly) is preparing for a semi-comfortable situation for ourselves, family and neighbors as we barrel over the Y2K 'bump in the road': what error do you see in this preparation?

What do you WISH a GI to do?

Note, at the bottom of that site, someone is organizing speakers:

"... Thanks for visiting our website. Like most people you may tend to procrastinate and put things off. You know that the best time to act is now, so act now! Get your applications forms and complete and overnight them to Y2K International today."

BFD!! The tuition bills are still coming in and they don't accept food cans, so Ed has to do something for a living!!

Lisa -

The correct question, the one he and "dragging chains" refuse to answer, is "What do you want the the Don't Get It's to do when the probable troubles strike for several days?

Would he dare tell us his name and address and company so we can send the crowds to his house?

MN: is this in your job description?

"The utility of the global Internet should be viewed as a major asset over and above being an information artery. It should be monitored and those interested in transnational activities and information identified and exploited, including "chumming", and information pertaining to essential elements of information for transnational threats harvested. The Internet should be used for perception management, creating the illusions of grander and diversions of nefarious actors to pseudo-information domains. "World citizens" should be rewarded for information leading to transnational threat perpetrators. ... "

Are you a (rewarded) World Citizen? Let's play hangman. We'll assume you work for an organization with three letters as an acronym. Give us the middle letter?

If I catch you posting on another thread, I will HOUND you until I get answers to these. Answer the questions.

HAHAHA! You think you're important enough for the FBI or the CIA to be interested in what you're doing? HAHAHA! LOL!

*sigh* personally I think you are giving this kid too much credit - MN is just another college kid who doesn't realize he doesn't understand...the usual anticapitalist nonsense one expects from public education these days, and nought else...

please stop feeding the trolls.

Mutha F,

You have proved your sorry-assed self to be a liar several times so do Bugger Off - this means, go away Troll you are not wanted here.

P.S. playing with HTML is akin to masturbating. Enjoy.

easy, kiddies...you'll pop a cork!

You may rest assured I could care less what the "dwgi's" do in their fearful scampering in regards to Year 2000. I have no desire to try and 'convert' any of you 'back to normalcy'...only my brother, Father Time, can accomplish that.

I trollthru this NG because I know how many lurkers there are that are scared spitless by the witless boobs spreading rumors and internet myths (hey Arlin...you ever get back to your 'reliable source' about the caddy hoax?) Some will question what is going on with the whole 'fear factor' if they see the starting false assumptions are dead wrong.

So please, my little chickadees, feel free to ignore me. I do not labor under any false worship of your head fear leader; I recognise him for what he is.

Irresponsible
It is IRRESPONSIBLE for Ed Yourdon to make statements like "...Indeed, I'll be the first to point out that I'm not an economist; aside from a few semesters of college-level economics that I took in the 1960s, I have no training or experience with which to make expert predictions that anyone else should necessarily depend on."

Then turn around and make full blown comments on stockmarket crashes, depressions, and such. He knows full well that people WILL listen to him...why else mention the '30 years of software..'blah,blah,blah so much? and how about the little statements like "...but there's also a finite probability that pigs will learn to fly."

or the speaking tours? if noone is supposed to listen (or act) on his opinions...WHY A Y2K CONFERENCE CIRCUIT?He Knows what he is doing! Some newbies will not. They need to hear both sides before getting sucked into the doom meme that is the Y2K religion. They need to know that not all 'experts' are looking out for their best interests...some are looking at their pocketbooks.

as for the fed stuff...you people are definitely paranoid; you should listen to yourselves...(shakes head)

BTW, why2K? my inside sources have indeed confirmed that the black heli's DO exsist...they carry a payload of LIQUID IGNORANCE. It would appear some individuals have been targeted more than once...

Here are three credible organizations that have concerns about Y2K...

Nah, I ain't paranoid, just wanted to know where's yo head.

You seem to be a genuine, ain't-no-problem kinda guy. Good for you! I really, really want to un-get-it, but the evidence that would prescribe that "epiphany" just ain't in yet. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, quit assuming that the participants here have deified Ed. We're just collecting pieces of the puzzle........

Let's see Andy. On the first thread you said:

"Avast to other fora and do not let us contaminate you any further."

To which I replied:

"I will indeed take my leave of this thread...after you answer a simple yes or no question."

Then Andy said on Bigdog's 'lets debate facts' thread:

"Mutha F, you said to us all recently (for it is on record) that you would not let your brilliant mind any longer be contaminated by us Yourdonite cretins, and that you would bugger off to other fora."

(notice the twist of words, bub?)

Now you are back accusing me again...*sigh*...

I wonder who has the problem with lying...

BTW, Andy...brilliant post. "P.S. playing with HTML is akin to masturbating. Enjoy." With one sentence you managed to insult every webmaster, webdesigner and HTMLjockey on the face of the planet; INCLUDING the makers of this forum!

smooth move.

(and if your statement WERE true...you must have had an orgasmic experience over at the $64,000 ? thread!

AHHHHH HAH HAH ha hah ha...

Hey, thanks for stating your trolling raison d'etre. I didn't expect that.

OK - one last question: I'm pretty sure you'd agree that Russians should be preparing (I know, they can't deal with '99- poor people). Are you saying that the British and Americans should NOT prepare? I mean, any type of preparation: food, water, cash, etc. Not necessarily firearms.

I don't get the impression you truly expect a non-event.

The reason I ask is: what if you're wrong? And don't promote/advocate preparedness? What are you telling your mom to prepare for, if anything?

Mutha F,

By all means stay if you must - you're diddling with HTML all the time is very annoying to most of us, I guess that's what you want to achieve - I find you're trolling very annoying but hey, land of free speech and all that so the stage is yours, we are listening with baited breath (or something like that).
