Want to trade: KitchenAid K5SS for pump espresso

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Coffee Related Buy/Sell/Trade : One Thread

Hello!

I have a KitchenAid/Hobart heavy duty mixer Model K5SS that I want to trade for a competent pump espresso machine. This mixer is the super duty home model which does not tilt but moves the stainless steel bowl up and down on a rack and pinion track. The mixer blades (three styles, flat, stainless steel balloon whisk, and dough hook) move in a strange planetary motion where the shaft turns and is also rotated on a cylindrical carrier for two circular motions at once. Very thorough...

This unit which includes the meat grinder attachment is about 8 or so years old but has probably been used a total of 30 minutes in all that time. It is so cool that I have toted it around the country through all of my moves but since I have little time to cook I have used it very little. It is one superb tool! It is the unit the semi-pros use, and I love to use it when I have time.

But not as much as I like espresso. I would like to trade this mixer to a cook who recognizes what they would be getting in return for a (used) pump espresso machine in excellent condition. My notion of an even trade would be a unit in the Gaggia Classic Coffee range, used but solid.

Since the two units would be comparable in terms of retail cost and weight I would just trade UPS ground shipping and insurance (as a 'wash')...

Let me know if you are interested. I would entertain cash offers as well but would prefer a trade...

Let me add another point to the trade listing above...

I feel a burning drive to learn the joys of back-flushing and full size porta-filters (hence the specific Gaggia mention above). If you are one of those 'belt and suspender' espresso folks who bought a Sylvia to front for your Rialto, let me say that I am willing to sweeten the pot with some cash if you want to trade a Rialto (or equiv.) with me for the mixer...

Please be patient with my slow personal replies, I have a family medical problem that means I'm away from home pretty regularly...

Thanks for checking this out!

It's all over but the shipping...

I have arranged to ship the mixer to one of the respondents, so this thread may be made into a Dan's List 'done deal'!

Thanks if you responded! Sorry there weren't more of these...
