New Place to Make Movies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Discuss Gere : One Thread

Just in case Mr. Gere really does lurk around some of his websites, I would like to suggest to him that he make a movie in West Central Wisconsin. We'd love to see him here, show him our beautiful bluffs, "our" section of the mighty Mississippi and our peaceful, quiet farmland. A great place to meditate!

Very selfish of me to think of it, would you say??

Julie, your not selfish, your diverse! Personally I feel that Mr. Gere would do well to be on the diverse side more and make movies that the whole family could view together, you know First Knight is for little people as well as the big people. Well not real little little people. Yet in reality landing a part in a movie and location are entirely a different matter. Michael Keaton, Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, just to name few apprears to be more 'marketable' in the diversity of movie rolls, the question is why can't Mr. Gere?

I'm responding to you, Mary Jones. I think you're right - it would be nice to see more diverse movies and maybe more family-oriented things. Although our family did like Sommersby. However, I don't think that Mr. Gere has to or is interested in being "marketable". I think he's able to do what interests him and is not all that interested in what "the people" want, but what suits him. I guess I don't think he's all that interested in money, therefore, he doesn't care about being "popular". Sort of like been there, done that. And, yet, there is that Runaway Bride movie coming up. Is it only because Julia Roberts is in it that I think it will be a popular success?? Or is it that it just seems to be the kind of "fluff" that so many audiences want to see??

i think that would be a great idea more movies with him in them.

Hi! I just thought I'd post in this message area because ya'll are talking about movie locations. I was wondering if anyone has seen "Intersection" with him in it? I recently found out that it was filmed in Vancouver where I'm from and also set here. Is it worth seeing? *probably is just to see the sights* but is it a good film?

In resonse to Kari, yes the scenery in Intersection is terrific, especially if you include Mr. Gere as part of the scenery!

Is it a good film? It all depends. I liked it better, as I like most of his movies, more as time goes by. It's an interesting story with an interesting ending. Don't want to give it away, but my mom says she doesn't want to see him get killed in any more movies!
