Fox to do Y2K report all next week?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Last Friday, I caught the tail end of a upcoming report on FOX Cable News Channel that said "The new millenium. If you're not scared..." then "You should be" all next week on FOX. Did anyone else catch this? Does anyone know what time it will air? I never saw the teaser again since (of course, I don't always watch FOX Cable News...) I'll guess I'll set the 'ol VCR to record all this week...

Wouldn't you know it - not 2 minutes after posting this tread, I turn the TV on and there's that teaser on FOX cable. It actually starts with a voice countdown on audio (10, 9 ,8, etc...) and only text graphics, "You could be stranded" , "You could be ..." then "Y2K the Millenium Bug" "If you're not worried" "You should be" all this week on FOX cable news.

Sure sounds like a whole bunch of peope will have light bulbs going off on top of their heads by the end of next week.

Russell...I would like to jump in on your thread to mention what the Arizona Republic newspaper had in todays Sunday edition. Seven full pages (its own section) on Y2k from a to z. Looks like straight forward reporting with little hype or spin. Lots of people in Arizona got the big Y2k picture today!

I caught just the end of this commercial. Then the screen went fuzzy as if transmission had been lost. Been wondering since Saturday what it was about. What is it about? Is FOX doing a show on it? If you find out, please post. ;-)

Our local FOX station (ch 17 - Grand Rapids MI) covered this on their 10:00 news segment.

"COMING UP ON FOX 17 NEWS: Find out why the Red Cross is saying that you should stock up on food, drugs, batteries, and other essentials."

AFTER THE COMMERCIALS...the smiling faces are back. "Are you prepared for the Y2k problem?...the Red Cross sez you'd better be!" They (with their "camera smile") stated everything matter-of-factly, mostly that if the bug bites to have extra cash, blankets, food and water on hand. "The Red Cross sez this is no means to panic, but to prepare for possible problems..." The anchors went on to say that "we should have extra blankets, for those Michigan winters can get quite cold..." It came and went in a blur...the Red Wings got more air time.
