***********HEY THERE,TO ALL Y2K CULTISTS!!!!!!!**********

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I, Thomas W. Chittum, was a computer programmer for years, and I am fed up with the Y2K con artists and their fast-buck shell games. I am going to tell the public why the Y2K meter roll is nothing to lose your head about ... or your money to the Y2K grifters. Yo, Y2K cultists. Have you noticed that actual Y2K failures have been as rare as honest congressmen? I challenge all Y2K cultists to email me links providing documentation of actual Y2K failures as I haven't seen one in over 3 months. (chittum@aol.com) I'll post them here. According to the Y2K loonies the Galaxy 5 satellite was going to go down because of Y2K on Nov. 19, 1998, crashing 40% of the telephone communications, 50% of the television satellite feeds, and 30% of the communications for the banks. I said Bull S*** on this site before Nov. 19, 1998 which came and went without any disruptions at all. Y2Kers 0 Y2K Skeptic 1. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!you stupid Y2K morons. I hope the grifters take you for every dime you got you noodle brains. Did you Y2K bone heads really think the people who design million dollar satellites were as stupid as you?

Wow, with your flare for communication, how could anyone imagine that you're a flake? If you haven't seen a failure in 3 months then you haven't been looking. There have been numerous posts on this NG already. I don't know what good it would do for you, of all people, to repost them. But I can't resist playing along.

---------- As expected, government computers in Washington and in several states were unable to sign people up for unemployment benefits using standard forms, which set a date one year ahead as the end of the benefits. But, as previously planned, those agencies continued to sign people up for the benefits last week by plugging in Dec. 31, 1999, as the ending dates.

John Koskinen, chairman of President Clinton's Council on Year 2000 Conversion, said the unemployment benefit scramble underscored the need to plan for breakdowns well in advance. He said he was worried that last week's calm might encourage local governments and small businesses to settle on "wait until it breaks" policies.

Stockholm's largest taxi service recently changed the way it calculates fares. But when 1998 became 1999, some of its computers didn't adjust properly and passengers were charged normal rates, instead of the higher holiday and late-hour fares.

Pharmacy Systems in the New York and Washington areas indicated people insured by PCS Health had expired insurance. Approximately 50,000 insured individuals were impacted. Many were required to pay the full cash for their prescriptions.

While company officials were quick to note that this was NOT a Y2K problem, Mardon will leave this entry open until such time as the companies involved disclose what the cause of the failure was.

I hope that you'll forgive me for stooping to your level, but I can't resist... You are obviously a liar and a complete idiot. I hope that you don't take this seriously because the idea of you starving to death brings a smile to my face.

Thomas,

If that is really you, try to sober-up before you post!! I like good binge as much (more actually) than the next guy, but booze & computers don't mix well (at least after the first 15 minutes or so of a good buzz).

I hope you are right about Y2K. In either case, I think you have a great web-site. Unlike you, however, I think computer problems, or the perception of computer problems will be a factor in your scenario.

Once again someone declares with irrational undue energy that Y2k is fake. If it were fake Tommy, & it threatens nobody but idiots fool enough to get "suckered" into Y2K prepardness and remediations , why has it created such a reaction in you?? And why has it lasted so long and gotten so much attention from non-profit organazations? Do you think that the people who are allegedly being scammed are as dumb as you? Do you think there is a worldwide conspiracy? If you do you need to talk to a licensed therapist. Schedule meetings for at least a year because it's obvious that you have some serious personal issues to work out.

This isn't a forum to try and debunk anybody. It's about Y2k awareness and public opinons. No body here is losing money by posting press releases here, or stating the obvious personal concerns. Your the only deluded soul unfortunate enough not to see the constructive use of this Message Board. Your silly little rant belongs over at the Gary North is a Big Fat Idiot forum. I'm sure there all the kiddies would be glad to play the name calling game. The TimeBomb 2000 Q & A Message Board is a different story, and no matter how much of your childish input it gets, your not going to change the overall content. It wasn't even a good attempt. Go crawl back to whichever rock you slithered under from and do the world a favor, stay there.

Shittum,

Why the hell would any of us feel any need or desire whatsoever to "prove" anything to you? Why would we give a rat's ass what you tell "the public"? Why would any of us "cultists" be the least bit interested in taking the time or energy to e-mailing you, a "non- cultist" anything? Why would we care what you're fed up about? Nobody here cares what you think or what you say because you obviously have nothing to add to the dialogue but childish blather. The only thing you're good for is flamebait. We're adults here, or at least mature. Go away, little boy.

My dear young Mr. Chittum,

Most of the people who participate in this forum are simply concerned about the state of affairs in the world. Nobody here has a crystal ball with which to read the future, hence, the gathering and sharing of information and speculation that goes on here. Very few of the participants claim to know what will happen as a result of the Y2K problem. Most of us are simply trying to decide what will be the most prudent course of action to take in case there are disruptions (mild or severe) in the infrastructure that controls our society.

Your website indicates that you are concerned about something you call "Civil War III." It seems to me that you share many of the same concerns about the state of affairs in the world. Why not use this as a starting point for conversation rather than insults? Don't you think that would be more effective?

I am a very old woman. I spent my career as a writer of fiction. You may have even read some of my books, or seen the movies or TV shows based on them. My concern is that I will still be able to resume my life in a fairly normal fashion for the little bit of time that I have left on this earth. More so, I am concerned for my children, grandchildren and great-grand children. You may or may not understand that type of concern.

My father was a handsome young officer during The Great War, and when he returned he went into the world of business. I was born in 1914, and I remember well what it was like when father lost everything he had in the stock market crash of 1929. We had been well off, and our lives changed radically. Nobody saw it coming, and almost everybody suffered. The end of The Great War and the Depression created the conditions for World War Two. We all know the atrocities that were committed during THAT one.

My point is that this Y2K thing is likely to be one of many catalysts for the next wave of changes in the world, and nobody knows what those changes will be. Many people fear that it will lead to the end of the world as they know it, while others fear that they will not be able to buy a loaf of bread for their children. There are no "cultists" here, my young friend, only people (like you, as indicated by your website) who want to be safe and secure in the great unknown that faces us.

I can't walk too well, but I can still type like a demon!

Sincerely,

-- An old granny (also@aol.com), January 24, 1999.

I noticed that Mr. Chittum's post starts with:

I, Thoms W. Chittum, was a computer programmer for years,.....

This might indicate that he is not all that young.

Maybe he has a feeling of guilt at maybe having actually participated in contributing to the problem when he was a programmer for all those years.

Nevertheless, for some unknown reason he seems to feel it necessary to waste his time viewing posts on an issue that he thinks is a non- issue. One can only wonder why would he even bother to do that.

because he is a fake Carol, why else would he be so adament about conveying his twisted logic?

Dear Tom ,

Go take a long look in your mirror.

You will be looking at a Y2K failure . :o(

-- Mike (mickle2@aol.com), January 24, 1999.

See Tom drink See Tom Compute Don't Be a Tom.

We did have a satellite failure in Oct. 90% of beepers in US went dead due to loss of a Galaxy sat. We called our beeper company and she explaing that it had been a Y2K test fail. The Nov. fail you refer to was due to a meteor shower. Some suspected they would blame that in place of a failed Y2K test.

Granny,

Well said. An interesting and valuable perspective. By the way--can you give us just a *teeny* little hint as to your secret identity? Take care and good luck (from a fellow writer--first book due out June '99)

Chris-

Thanks. I read it. And we're a cult? Get real.

I can just see old Shittum next year on Jan. 24, 2000 walking up to his neighbors house with his knee's a shakin from not having anything to eat in 4 days and saying to his neighbor with tears in his eyes "I'm hungry, do you have some extra food you could share with your neighbor?" His neighbor, knowing what a total jerk this guy's been over the years will SLAMM HIS DOOR SHUT!!!!!! And so will the next neighbor, and the next, and the next........

-- Anonymous (Anonymous@aol.com), January 24, 1999.

Chris,

oh it gets even better than that - you see the white supremacists are hoping for chaos following the roll over, thinking that perhaps they can take advantage of it. What they haven't figured out (and may very well have to learn the hard way) is that however disgusted many of us may be with the current situation, we find neonazis to be ten times worse.

ah well, they'll learn eventually...one way or the other...

To all here, I have spent 2 days catching up on past posts. Everyone has a right to THEIR opinion, on an open forum....Leave Chittum alone!

"Let him who is without sin cast the first stone!"

Gone back to lurking now! Thank you--and no response is necessary.
