BIODIESEL IN PETROMAX LANTERNS????

Wondering if you can use bio-diesel in the Petromax Lanterns, and how long it will burn?

The answers are:

YES, YOU CAN, AND IT WORKS GREAT!!

After testing the biodiesel in the multi-fueled Petromax lanterns, our technicians were able to determine the burn-time of over 8 hours at high setting, using only 1-quart of fuel. This will be a great fuel to have around for preparations for any disaster or for Y2K storage. It is environmentally safe, does not have a smell (great for indoor use), and the flash-point is higher than diesel, so would be much safer to use than any gasoline-type fuels indoors.

The storage time for the biodiesel can be lengthened by additives. (For more info on the additives, I would suggest contacting the National Board on Biodiesel.....www.biodiesel.com).

We are proud to have been a part of the testing for the biodiesel fuel, and would like very much to thank Mr. J.P. Hewitt,(combustion fuel expert) Registered Biodiesel Supplier (USA), as well as Mr. Steve Howell, National Biodiesel Board, as well as all those who have participated in the research and development of this product. They have all done a fine job of developing a product that will be both economical, as well as safer for our environment.

This is a really great product to use, and I endorse this product whole-heartedly.

To purchase this product, see their site (it's under construction, but should be up shortly)..... www.hiperfuels.com.

The Veggievan is also a great idea is you are planning to make this fuel yourself. Good work, folks!!

We will inform you later as to how this product performs in our stoves, so....until then.....keep smiling!!

I purchased a coleman lantern at an amish store. We asked what they used and this is what was recommended. They burn white gas which I have no idea what it is but I know where to get it. Would biodisel fuel be comparable to white gas? Could I use your fuel instead. I never wanted to learn all about different types of fuel but.......

Diana, thanks for the update. I appreciate you staying in touch this way. Having ordered both the lantern and the stove from you last week, we're hoping those backorders get filled soon. I'll be interested in your results with the biodiesel as fuel for your stove.
