It's a very tight market. As long as you're willing to do whatever it takes, you'll be alright. Professionals earn up to 30% less than what they do on the mainland. As one person is leaving, there could be hundreds waiting in line. Here are some pay rates: secretary 28,000/ yr, waiter 6/hr, mechanic 16/hr, or cashier 25,000/yr. Now they might sound good, but when you figure that Hawaii's cost of living averages about 35% higher than the mainland, it's tough to make it on one job. Some of the occupations needed are people in advertising, police, teachers, grocery stores, high tech industries, health care, retail sales, resort positions, tour operators, and truck drivers.

I really want to live in Hawaii in like, um.... 6 months and i want to buy a house on an island. =) I don't think that Hawaii is that expensive, only because I'm really rich! I love my mama and mama always said that hawaii was the only place where the devil couldn't get me other than the volcanic eruptions. AHHHHHH NO!! I'll stay clear of those and call my mama. Well it's time for mama to brush my hair so I'm out.

I have lived in NYC for the past 5 years, and I'm wondering if NYC can really be considered the mainland, cause its an arm and a leg to love here.
