Up to about what year after the ACL & SAL merger did any locos keep their original paint without any transition lettering ?

All SCL locos were renumbered by the end of 1967. The passenger engines were repainted by April of 1970, with the 599 being the last engine to receive black. Most of the other locos were around until about 1972, in deminishing numbers. The last loco to wear SAL type paint was GP-7 964, repainted March of 1976.
